GPS30 SiRFstar III based OEM-GPS receivers

The Orcam GPS30 is a compact, low cost, low power OEM GPS receiver based on the much acclaimed SiRF Star III GPS chip architecture.

The GPS30 features on-board LNA and SAW-filter to support the use of both active and passive external antennas.

The GPS30F has a  Cold Start sensitivity of -142 dBm, Warm- and Hot Start sensitivity of -152 dBm and a tracking sensitivity of -159 dBm and will continue tracking in the most demanding environments making indoor navigation possible and meeting the challenges of urban canyons and multi path environments.

The GPS30E is an enhanced performance version of the GPS30F whith improved acquisition sensitivity and up to 50% reduction in Time to First Fix (TTFF) across a range of operating conditions.

Cold Start sensitivity has been improved to -145 dBm and  Warm- & Hot Start sensitivity has been improved to -155 dm, while Tracking sensititvy remains at -159 dBm.

A-GPS Support

The GPS30 supports ephemeris aiding, either by "pushing" live ephemeris data to the receiver during aqcuisition or by the use of "synthetic" ephemeris, using the SiRF InstantFix™ technology. Ephemeris aiding eliminate the initial task of loading GPS data from the satellites themselves, typically reducing the time required for a cold start by 50% to ~ 15s.

GPS30 is also prepared for SiRFLoc™, a special software to improve GPS location capability in wireless systems by providing various modes of infrastructure assistance to improve weak signal reception,

significantly reducing the Time To First Fix in weak signal environments.

Power Supply

Designed to operate from “raw” 3.6 V battery voltage,

GPS30F has all necessary power regulation and power management functions on board. It prrovides unparalleled SiRF Star 3 acquisition and navigation performance with a power consumption of less than 125 mW during tracking, making it ideal for embedding into portable battery powered applications.

I/O Signal Levels

1.2 V logic "PWR", "WAKE" and "LNA ENABLE" signals.

1.8 V logic for all other I/O signals, including the serial port.
